well, I started out knitting and crocheting as a bored little girl with a childminder desperately trying to keep me occupied. It worked after a fashion but I wasn’t minded to continue on my own.
So I went off, learnt instruments, did some sport, sat some exams and ended up with a BA History from University of London in 2001. Then I worked for Conductors and Opera Singers for a year, realised that organising other people’s lives wasn’t my thing and auditioned for Music College. I graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with an MMus in 2003. I knitted a bit while I was there, but didn’t really get into it properly.
But the story does not stop there, no! overworked and unhappy, I took a job straight out of GSMD as a full-time administrator in a central-London hospital. Music sucked me back in though and today I’m a full time musician. In April 2006 I packed in the part-time job that kept me in wonga for a time and, that was where the story started.
Interestingly, that was also where the knitting started. Co-incidence? Procrastination? You decide.
Come back in 10 years and maybe there’ll be another paragraph 🙂
