I love gooseberries, we used to have a bush at my parents old house. Sadly they're something you rarely see for sale. Farmers markets might be worth trying, or finding someone that grows them. Waitrose seem to be attempting to re-define seasonal food. I recently saw some in season apples - from China!

Tried to reply to your comment on my blog but your email bounced, here's what I said anyway:

"Oh one of the motivating factors behind my lack of stash buying - and I really have got record amounts at the moment - is definitely financial. Even if I can currently (sort of) justify yarn as a business expense, I still hate the idea of wasting it and I'm trying to avoid buying stuff (of all kinds) that I don't need / really, really love. If you're looking for cheap, decent quality yarn, have you tried recycling sweaters? Good fun, and the best source of cheap, good yarn. Not something I've done for a while, because it's a bit tricky to sell a pattern using yarn that no one else can get.

As far as I'm concerned the old ladies are trying to keep all the cool techniques a secret by using them in ways that seem unappealing."

If you get one of those clear shoe organizers that hang on the back of your door you can use it to organize your yarn and you can also stick patterns that you plan to do someday in with the yarn you want to use on that pattern. It's also a good motivater to get you stoked about future projects.

Sorry about the unsolicited tips.

I totally know what you mean about being waylaid by your knitting -- I feel that way often. (I think it's kinda a good thing -- it's like a chance to let ideas percolate for a while & then to come up with something completely new...)

Love your sweater (jumper) in the previous post! Beautiful color!
